Dianne’s Story

Dianne Barnes has had an impressive equestrian career, enjoying success as a female jockey for five years and in the show ring, where she was named champion senior rider Melbourne and Adelaide royal shows.

Dianne is now a Grade IV Para-Dressage rider, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and Dystonia. After her diagnosis at 62 years old, her daughter encouraged her to try para-dressage.

The mother-of-twins now coaches, as well as keeping up her training at home.

In 2022, she won Victorian Para Athlete of the Year.

Being able to wear the green and gold, on the world’s biggest stage would mean everything to Dianne.

When she’s not working with horses, Dianne enjoys reading and looking after her property.
