Chris’s Story

Chris Addis found the sport of Para-table tennis through a friend; he visited a local club in Victoria and fell in love with the sport instantly.

Chris was born with Spina Bifida but has always had a passion for sport, where he found community.

Growing up Chris tried his hand at a host of different sports but settled on Para-table tennis in 2009. He first competed for Australia at the Hong Kong regionals in 2011. Chris took a break from the sport but came back in middle of 2022.

The father-of-two takes inspiration not only from his family but Paralympian Kurt Fearnley, who he says became a leader in Para-sport at a time where the sport hadn’t been as prominent.

Chris is coached by Alois Rosario and Maggie Meng; his home club is Melton Table Tennis Club.

The Victorian is aiming to wear the Australian colours at a Paralympics alongside his fellow athletes.

In ten years’ time, he hopes to still be playing table tennis and coaching others.
